Bars, Explore Places

The Old Post Office, Ingleton

The picturesque village of Ingleton is renowned for its Waterfalls and walking trails. After completing the walk, you wind up in the quaint village of Ingleton where you can browse the small independent antique stores and boutiques. However, after a long day chasing waterfalls, what you’re really going to need is…. a pint!

We stumbled upon The Old Post Office Microbar this week after a long day walking in the rain and had a lovely time. Read more to find out why!

This Microbar fits in with the small village’s atmosphere but also provides some much needed modern flare in Ingleton.

Due to the current social distancing measures, the bar has capacity for only a few groups. However, the owners have made great use of their limited space to create three (four, including the benches out front) different atmospheres; The Gallery, The Armoury and The Secret Garden! The juxtaposition is staggering and the attention to detail is what makes this little place so unique.

The Gallery
The Armoury

The Bar is currently offering table service, where you have the opportunity to choose from a vast array of local ales, craft beer, International beers, spirits, wine and quality snacks! I chose the Garstang Spiced Pear Gin which was absolutely beautiful! It is also so great to see a local business support other local business’.

However, attention to detail and high quality beverages aside, what makes this place such a great experience is the concept behind it. There is a sign by the door that says ‘arrive as strangers, leave as friends.’ This is too true of The Old Post Office. Due to its small capacity, you are naturally led to speak with those sitting by you. Given the current distancing measures, it felt so good to interact with others in such a lighthearted and enjoyable environment!

The Old Post Office Microbar was established 18 months ago and the owners have done a brilliant job in creating a welcoming, warm and exciting environment for locals and tourists alike! This is a bar I can envisage nestled in on a busy Manchester high street, but leaving the bar and stepping back into the Ingleton village felt surreal. Although we chose this place to have a sit down and a quiet drink after our tiring days out on the hills, I can definitely picture The Old Post Office being my bar of choice for a big night out, too!!
